Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting (Open Portion) held on Thursday, 14 September 2017 at 5.00 pm in the Lady Osborne Room, Town Hall.

That the Committee resolve to deal with any supplementary items not appearing on the agenda, as reported by the General Manager.
No supplementary items were received.

HARVEY That the recommendation contained in the report of the Program Leader Recreation and Projects, the Manager Parks and Recreation and the Director Parks and City Amenity of 7 September 2017, be adopted, as amended by the following: 1. An additional Clause to read as follows: “2. The General Manager be authorised to submit a grant application to the State Government’s Healthy Tasmania Community Innovations Grants program of $25,000 ex gst, in order to fund a winter program of the City’s Healthy Hobart Program in 2018.” |

That 1. Approval be provided for the City to deliver the 2017/2018 Healthy Hobart program, as proposed in Attachment B to item 6.2 of the Open Parks and Recreation agenda of 14 September 2017, at an estimated cost of $30,000 to be funded from the Recreation and Project Management Budget Function in the 2017/2018 Annual Plan. 2. The General Manager be authorised to submit a grant application to the State Government’s Healthy Tasmania Community Innovations Grants program of $25,000 ex gst, in order to fund a winter program of the City’s Healthy Hobart Program in 2018.

That: 1. Water Polo Tasmania be granted a reduction of hire fees applicable for the use of the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre to hold the Under 16 Girls National State Club Water Polo Championships scheduled to be held 27 September - 2 October 2017, to a value of $14,763 being: (i) 50% of pool hire fees - $9,445; and (ii) 100% of meeting room hire fees - $5,318. 2. The cost of the fee reduction be funded from the Parks and City Amenity Divisional Budget Function within the 2017/2018 Annual Plan. 3. The quantum of the assistance be recorded in the ‘Grants, Assistance and Benefits Provided’ section of the City of Hobart Annual Report. 4. Acknowledgment of the City’s support be provided in accordance with the City of Hobart Grant and Partnership Acknowledgment Guidelines.

Question: Could the Director please advise if there was a malfunction with the parking ticket machine at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre recently as a number of parking tickets were found scattered over the ground around the vicinity of the machine and could the Director please advise if the possible malfunction has it been rectified? Answer: The Director Parks and City Amenity took the question on notice. |
