3.       Consideration of Supplementary Items

Ref: Part 2, Regulation 8(6) of the Local Government (Meeting Procedures) Regulations 2015.

Recommendation

 

That the Committee resolve to deal with any supplementary items not appearing on the agenda, as reported by the General Manager.

 

No supplementary items were received.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.       Indications of Pecuniary and Conflicts of Interest

Ref: Part 2, Regulation 8(7) of the Local Government (Meeting Procedures) Regulations 2015.

 

Aldermen are requested to indicate where they may have any pecuniary or conflicts of interest in respect to any matter appearing on the agenda, or any supplementary item to the agenda, which the committee has resolved to deal with.

 

No interest was indicated.

 

5.       Transfer of Agenda Items

Regulation 15 of the Local Government (Meeting Procedures) Regulations 2015.

 

A committee may close a part of a meeting to the public where a matter to be discussed falls within 15(2) of the above regulations.

 

In the event that the committee transfer an item to the closed portion, the reasons for doing so should be stated.

 

Are there any items which should be transferred from this agenda to the closed portion of the agenda, or from the closed to the open portion of the agenda?

Mr Will Allison, Director of Peter Johnston Ship Chandlers addressed the Committee in relation to item 6.1.

 

6.1      29 Morrison Street, Hobart - Removal of Three Car Parking Spaces

That:   1.    The three car parking spaces located in front of 29 Morrison Street, Hobart remain status quo.

2.    Council officers initiate discussions with the proprietor of the Harbour Lights Café, together with surrounding businesses to investigate the possibility of increasing the current clearway hours to provide a morning clearway prior to 8.30 am in addition to the existing afternoon clearway.

3.    Officers investigate the possibility of altering the existing 15 minute time limit parking sign (Monday to Friday), associated with the three car parking spaces located in front of 29 Morrison Street to incorporate Saturday.

That:   1.    The three car parking spaces located in front of 29 Morrison Street, Hobart remain status quo.

1.      An additional clause to read as follows:

“3.     The Lord Mayor and the Chairman of the City Infrastructure Committee, Alderman Helen Burnet release a joint media release at the appropriate time.”

That:  1.     The McRobies Gully Landfill Rehabilitation Levy be reduced from $50 to $10 per residential property, and reduced from $100 to $20 per commercial property, commencing 1 July 2018.

2.    The Levy be applied for a period ending on 30 June 2027.

3.    The Lord Mayor and the Chairman of the City Infrastructure Committee, Alderman Helen Burnet release a joint media release at the appropriate time.

8.1      Alderman Reynolds - Chipping of the Green Road Surface Material on the Salamanca Crossing

            File Ref: 13-1-10

 

Question:    Could the Director please advise why the green road surface material used on the Salamanca crossing has chipped after such a short period of time and is there a plan to use a different type of material in the future?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure advised that there was an issue with the material used not being laid thick enough.  The Contractor has been advised and will be replacing the current green road surface material at their own cost.

 

 

 


 

 

8.2      Alderman Reynolds - Removal of the Lenah Valley Zebra Crossing

            File Ref: 13-1-10

 

Question:    Could the Director please provide a copy of the delegation used to make the decision to remove the Lenah Valley zebra crossing and when did Council delegate this to officers?

Answer:       The authority to undertake this action has been issued by the Transport Commission and delegated to Officers.  Copies will be circulated.

 

 

 

 

 

8.3      Alderman Reynolds - Pedestrian Lights - Sandy Bay Infants School

Question:    Could the Director please advise as to how the pedestrian lights outside the Sandy Bay Infants School meet the state government warrants?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure took the question on notice.

 

 

 

 

 

8.4      Alderman Harvey - Enviropods

            File Ref: 13-1-10

 

Question:    Could the Director please advise if there is a standard size of Enviropods in use and do other Council’s for example Clarence City Council, Glenorchy City Council, Brighton Council, Kingbrough Council and the Derwent Valley Council, use and/or should be using the same size and type of Enviropod and have they made any impact of decreasing pollution into the River Derwent?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure took the question on notice.

 

 

 

 


 

 

8.5      Alderman Ruzicka - Albuera Street Primary School (Yellow Paint and No Parking Signs)

Question:    Could the Director please provide a memorandum to Aldermen in relation to the laying of yellow paint and the installation of No Parking signs in the vicinity of the Albuera Street Primary School?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure advised that a memorandum in relation to the placement and laying of yellow paint and the installation of No Parking signs in the vicinity of the Albuera Street Primary School will be issued under separate cover.

 

 

 

 

 

8.6      Alderman Ruzicka - Petition from the Residents - Lynton Avenue and King Street, Dynnyrne

            File Ref: 13-1-10

 

Question:    Could the Director please advise if any petitions have been received from residents regarding the Lynton Avenue/King Street intersection and traffic speeds on King Street generally above the intersection of Parliament Street?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure took the question on notice.

 

 

 

 

 

8.7      Alderman Reynolds - Sandy Bay Shopping Precinct 40 kph Zone

            File Ref: 13-1-10

 

Question:    Could the Director please provide an update in relation to a potential 40 kph zone though the Sandy Bay Shopping Precinct now the upgrade has been completed?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure advised that following completion of the works, speed will be monitored to determine whether a reduction in speed limit is able to be considered further at this time.

 

 

 

 

 

8.8      Alderman Burnet - Disability Parking in Loading Zones

Question:    Could the Director please advise if loading zones can also be used for people with disabilities?

Answer:       The Director City Infrastructure took the question on notice.
