City Infrastructure Committee Meeting (Open Portion) held on Wednesday, 26 August 2020 at 5:15 pm.
This meeting of the City Infrastructure Committee is held in accordance with a Notice issued by the Premier on 3 April 2020 under section 18 of the COVID-19 Disease Emergency (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2020.

Councillor Ewin arrived at the meeting at 5:16 pm and was not present for item 1.
Councillor Ewin left the meeting at 5:17 pm, returning at 5:21 pm, left the meeting at 5:26 pm, returning at 5:27 pm, left the meeting at 5:27 pm, returning at 5:29 pm, left the meeting at 5:38 pm, returning at 5:40 pm, left the meeting at 5:42 pm, returning at 5:43 pm, left the meeting at 5:45 pm, returning at 5:47 pm, retired from the meeting at 5:50 pm and was not present for items 6.2 to 9.
Councillor Coats left the meeting at 5:29 pm, returning at 5:57 pm and was not present for items 6.2 to 7.1.
The Deputy Lord Mayor left the meeting at 5:29 pm, returning at 5:32 pm, left the meeting at 5:33 pm, returning at 5:34 pm, left the meeting at 5:37 pm, returning at 5:38 pm, left the meeting at 5:47 pm, returning at 5:47 pm.
Alderman Behrakis left the meeting at 5:49 pm, returning at 5:49 pm and retired from the meeting at 5:59 pm.

Question: Can we ask the State Government to permanently remove the need to press pedestrian light buttons in the CBD, which is currently a temporary measure and also extend the area to include lights along Morrison Street and the length of Elizabeth Street given its high pedestrian numbers?
Answer: The Director City Planning advised that yes we can approach the State Government with the request to permanently remove the need to press the pedestrian light buttons in the CBD and seek similar changes for traffic lights along Morrison and Elizabeth Streets. |

Question: Is there a requirement from the City of Hobart or the State Government on large vehicles to avoid travel in urban zones during peak traffic times and how common is this traffic management tool in other States and in particular capital cities? Answer: The Director City Planning took the question on notice. |

Question: (a) What is the utilisation of the City’s car fleet and what would be considered as under-utilisation? (b) Is there consideration of shrinking the fleet in line with budget cuts? Answer: The Director City Amenity took the question on notice. |
That the Committee resolve by majority that the meeting be closed to the public pursuant to regulation 15(1) of the Local Government (Meeting Procedures) Regulations 2015 because the items included on the closed agenda contain the following matters: · Information that was provided to the Council on the basis that it be kept confidential; · Contract for the supply of services; and · Interest in land.
